Yes im a newbie to rifles and sorts

and i recently picked up a Yugo-Underfolding AK

so my question is when i have the mag in and i cock it, the mag seems to hold the bolt back and i cant get it forward without takeing out the mag, is that normal some sort of bolt lock? or not? but without the mag it will cock just fine and go forward..

(all of these tests were done dry, so many it will work with ammo?)

Sounds like you have a Yugo mag that holds the bolt open, after firing the last round.The mag follower catches the bolt, preventing forward travel...In other words..it's normal. ( for that type of mag)

no, only BHO mags that are like that are the yugo's and some of the bosnian 2 ribs. euro, chinese, russian, etc wont do it.
