What is the best product out there for scoping an M72B1 RPK I can do myself that will retain accuracy and is strong? OR Should I send it away to have a side mount added? If so who would you reccommend? Thanks |
| The correct mounts and scopes for the Yugo's are the ZRAK series. PA Distributing has them (when he's not sold out). I bet he's pretty close to you in MD. The only way to go on the mount is to have a side mount. Dust cover mounts do not hold a zero (they float). Rear sight replacement mounts (B-Square) usually require a long eye relief pistol scope (only lower power ranges available). Find a good AK-smith and have him install a side mount to fit whatever setup you buy. The good thing about the ZRAK mount vs a PSO-1 type is that the scope is directly over the centerline of the rifle instead of offset to the left. However, a PSO type looks more akin to something that belongs on the rifle than a Leupold on a B-Square mount. |
Personally I wouldn't touch anything but the original Yugo Zastava scope mount: www.p-a-distributing.com/parts.html

| I am contemplating this question . Answer I'll try: get scope, mount, and a good clamping system, ( two of the vise grip wide mouth flat foot from home depot @ $15, blue side of receiver (dykem) lazer align scope @ 25 yds with rifle clamped in good vise or shooting rest. Center scope adjustments. . move things around son lazer and scope agree. centerpunch very lightly (spot only) in rivet holes, and encircle with scribe.Drill, rivet, and adjust. I am an amateur, but that's how I'm going to try first attempt do it. any suggestions on distance or technique welcome. |
