Mostly lurk, but based largely on a lot of great discussion and info here -- ordered my first AK -- an O-PAP from Wideners. Can't wait to get it and will post condition, etc., after I get it.
As of last night, they had a "quite a few." Cost was $579. After ordering, found Centerfire systems has them as well - for $549 in case anyone else is looking. LOL! |

I got an email confirmation of the order same day -- within a short time. It confirmed the order and shipping info and said to give 5 - 10 days for order processing. Just before making this post I checked my account and it says the order was "received." So if yours says "processing" I'
d guess it's closer to your doorstep than mine is to me. As an FYI, this is my first order from them and so far, their CS seems good. I had a slight glitch and so right after ordering, tried to call - it was quarter to 5 and I got their "we're closed" recording. So, I sent an email letting them know the issue and that I'd call in the a.m. At 5:15 I got an email from "Patrick" telling me they fixed the problem, got my order and all was good. So... they seem pretty responsive. If it's been a while or you have questions, I'd give them a call. I spoke to them twice over this and both times they were nice, told me what I needed to know and all was good. |

Okay - picked it up and it looks great! No pix - it looks like all the others. Finish is perfect, wood is in outstanding shape - no dings or anything. No metal shavings anywhere - very clean and well-oiled. No cosmo, just a light oil on everything. Sights are straight. Trigger is much smoother than anything I expected. Like a smooth DAO pull or a Glock. Really didn't expect that. Also didn't expect the build quality or solidness. Much better than anything near the price that I've handled and as far as fit, finish and build quality, I see no notable difference between it and a friend's much more expensive, high-end AK.
This is my first AK but not my first rodeo. Most AKs I handled in stores or that belonged to others seemed too crude and/or poorly made to ring my bell. I always liked them, just wouldn't pay the price for ones I saw. Figured I'd eventually spend close to a grand for something I liked. So enter the 0-pap... Learned about them on a forum and liked what I heard. A very knowledgeable friend also spoke well of the ones he'd seen. So I bought one. If it shoots well enough, I'll be happy. |
