I don't know much about the Yugo AK's out there, if I was to start looking, what should I be aware of. I know there are several variants from Century, which are probably the most affordable.
How many variants did Century make, and what is available? I understand everything is in tight supply. I just missed out on the ones from J&G. |

Quoted:
To the best of my knowledge Century made M70B1s, M70AB2s, M72s, and M76s. Availability is sporadic and short lived, as I'm sure you know. They (M70s and M72s) pop up in the EE with some regularity, sometimes decently priced. Thanks for the info! What are the differences between the models? Are the Century builds any good? I know they have US non-chromed barrels. I would prefer a fixed stock model. |

M70B1 - Fixed stock 7.62x39 AK variant M70AB2 - Underfolder 7.62x39 AK variant M72 - Fixed stock 7.62x39 RPK M76 - Fixed stock, milled receiver, 8mm rifle based on the AK design (with some differences) I have had excellent luck with my 5 Century Yugos (zero issues), but Century does produce their fair share of turds. It is highly advantageous to be able to inspect the rifle (if possible) before purchasing. |
| J&G wants $1750 for one (Link), which is fairly typical for one with a scope and hardcase. Overpriced for what it is IMO. I could never see myself paying that much for a Century rifle. A POHF build maybe, but not Century. |

Widener's has M70B1s in stock for $649, same price AIM was selling them for. Link |
| Does anybody besides me find the fixed-stock Yugos painful to shoot? Mine seems to transmit the full recoil of the gun into my cheek bone...something about the comb of the stock doesn't agree with me. I've got the underfolder model as well, and I actually find it more comfy to shoot. |

When I used the iron sights on my M70B1s, I shot NTCH (in AR speak) without any discomfort. Now that my B1s have optics, the comb is the perfect height for a good cheek weld. Yugo butt stocks are excellent (better than most other variants) for optics. |
