In the picture thread, on pgs. 6 and 7, there were pictures of SKSs with scope mounts that attached directly to the receiver on the left side, below the receiver cover. can be seen here:

I was wondering where to get one of these, how to attach it, and if they work well.

If you don't mind drilling and tapping the receiver, there's a couple options for scoping the SKS to include slide on mounts a la' AK47.  Problem with many is the scope is set too high and it requires cutting out the wood.

I really didn't like having a scope on my SKS.  It really didn't improve accuracy over the irons at the intended ranges of the 7.62x39 round.  I went with a Williams peep insert installed on the rear sight block until these came out:

I usually don't buy things as soon as I see them, but this, I could readily see, was an outstanding idea and purchased one immediately.  It is one hell of a product!!!

To echo wildearp, I really didn't want a scope, either.  So I, too, installed a Tech Sights TS200.  Be aware that on some SKS this will require a small amount of wood removal from the stock:

Some installation guidance is given here.

Looks cool. Does that Tech Sight really maintain its zero when you take it off to remove the receiver cover? Thats why I've never bought an SKS scope mount: they are all built on removable parts, an I don't want to resight my rifle every time I clean it.

What is this cleaning you speak of?

and does it allow for the use of stripper clips?  I removed the one that came with my latest acquisition to replace it with the original receiver cover because, if it was back far enough to load with stripper clips, the eye relief was too close and it would actually bang me in the head with recoil
