I saw on Southern Ohio Gun that they had some $89 SKS's...

My question is, are they worth a crap or not?  I want an SKS, and that price can't be beat, but I don't want to buy a hunk of junk...

Keep in mind I'm a broke college student, and just bought my first AK variant...I'm just in a gun buying mood, and think its a helluva deal.  Just don't want crap though.

Opinions anyone?

Is it yugo? Chinease etc? Im curious

I picked up two Chinease SKS rifles for 300 bucks, not bad considering it came with 2 folding stocks to boot.

Im curious to see what others have to say.

It's a Yugo 59/66 with a grenade launcher.  Description from SOG is:

Just received a large shipment of Yugo SKS rifles that are in good to very good condition. 23” barrel with grenade launcher attachment.

REG: $119.95
RETAIL: $229.00
#SKS-M5966GN
C&R
NOT FOR SALE IN CALIFORNIA

Just waiting on someone to tell me if these are gonna be crap or not.

They may or may not have a bad gas valve. If so, its a easy fix.

It's most likely got a shot out barrel, thus making it a 'shooter's grade'

still a good buy though.

Meaning the accuracy is complete crap or???

I'm wanting to know if I should buy it or not...what would you say?

Grab atleast one while you still can!!!!   Once they are all gone the price will skyrocket even for the shootable junkers.

OK accuracy.

If you can find a new barrel though, it'll make it even better.

A SKS is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're gonna get. However with a little TLC almost any SKS can be a good shooter. I bought one for $99 and after a little work I probably doubled it's value. Buy em up... I have 3.

I think it's a good deal. I have bought a few dozen SKS's and have yet to see one that had a barrel worn to the point of screwing up accuracy.
