My buddy swears up and down that it is OK to have a bayonet on a Chi com SKS as long as it is with in a certain serial number range .
I keep telling him no dice the only way you can have it is if you play the parts count rule and it no longer counts as an import .
Who is right?

Than why was there the whole rigimoral back in the early 90's where every one was ditching bayonets from Chinese SKS's?

it is illegal to install a bayonet on a Chinese SKS imported after 1990

depends on year of importation and year of manufacture. He would need to prove his sks was here before 1990 because the burden is on you the firearm holder if the atf comes and questions you.

From what I can tell, if you're playing the "Evil Features" game, the actual bayonet doesn't even come into play. It's the lug that allows you to attach the bayonet, that makes it evil.

As long as your Norinco SKS is in stock form, with the 10 round fixed mag, the bayonet lug doesn't even come into play.

OK , but even if it is in stock form with a 10 round mag you still can't have the bayonet on the lug unless it had it 16 years ago correct?

Most of these Bayonets were ditched just after the ban went into effect, with them still sitting in the stores. I didn't even hear of these store owners being forced to do so, they just stoppped supplying the Bayonet with the SKS to cover their ass.

As far as I know, as long as it was imported with the lug intact, there's no reason you can't put a sticker back on it.

The only ones that I know of not having the bayo lug intact when they were imported, were the detachable AK-47 mag types.
