| ok guys I think I want an SKS but there are so many different types to pick from..Russina, Yugo, Chinease, Romanian, which is better? or all the same basically, anyone to really stay away from??(accuracy or problems with functioning) im leaning more towards a russian or chinease...what do you guys think? |
If price is no problem for you, check out a nice russian one. But you can get a yugo cheap right now, probably much less than half the price of a russian. The main difference between the two is that yugos don't have chrome lined bores. I guess it really depends on what you want from the rifle. If you're a collector and you want a nice piece, get a russian or any other SKS that's more rare. If you're just looking for a nice cheap rifle that will be nice, get a yugo. I've got a yugo and I love it. |

I checked some of the SKS boards for awhile and managed to pick up an excellent condition russian refurb for $250 to my door. An unissued yugo will probably get to you for $150. My russian shoots great. It is lighter and shorter than the yugo plus it is chrome lined. $100 well spent I think. I did get a good deal though. |
| Dont forget about a decent chinese rifle. Generally not as sexy as the Russians or as new and "unissued" as the Yugo's but they make great shooters/SHTF stash guns. These can be found many places like pawn shops, the internet gun sites and your local newspaper anywhere from $100-$400. |
