if i were to buy a yugo barreled receiver and assuming i could get headspace and everything correct, could i finished it up with all chinese parts? legally and physically?
i have a couple of chinese sks parts kits laying around and never really knew what to do with them. they do have the receiver parts and i thought about welding them together but i really doubt that would be legal, let alone difficult. but yugo barrelled receivers seem to be easy to get.

Why?

let me ask again..why?

Just seems like way more work than it's worth. If you want a chinese SKS, drop ~$200 and get one.

Not to mention, jsut cause it's an SKS doesn't mean the parts will fit.

i understand your concern, makes sense in most cases and if i took you advice i would probably save myself a lot of trouble, but let me say this again:

first of all i already have two sks's, 1 chinese and 1 yugo so its not like im in a rush to have an sks

but what i am saying is that also have 2 chinese parts kits(everything but the receiver)
and as i understand it you can get barrelled yugo receivers for 20-40 bucks.

i understand it might no be 100% be drop in(headspace will be the biggest issue)- but i am a capable human being with some skills to manage some fitting

my question is would this be legal

why? maybe i enjoy this sort of thing, i realize that this is not the builders forum, but im pretty sure im not the only guy in the world that likes to build things or put things together (AK's,AR's, SKS's?....etc.)

p.s. where u at? camp liberty here

Yes it would be legal if 922 was followed,ie no detachable mags,folding stocks etc unless enough us made parts were included.You will learn a lot about fitting parts,dont expect them to just drop in.Good luck with your project,post pics when finished
