depends on what type of scope you wanna use & how much you wanna spend
they have the dust cover mounts with the set screws, but you have to use a compact/mini scope

or you can get the tap and drill scope mount, but you gotta tap, drill and cut you stock and receiver, but you can use a normal rifle scope

they also have a scope mount that goes on your gas tube also, guessing you will have to have a scope with a long eye relief to use this one

Well for the scope mount, i was thinking about a compact non expensive scope. The rifle will be used mainly for work related experiments and i would like to shoot from a safe distance(100yds). Reasonable accuracy would be 3 inch groups or less, a scope would help with the eye strain of shooting for extended timesie: bad eyes vs small sights(hell getting old). thanks in advance.

well the dust cover scope mount is the way to go for you then

you can get a fixed 4x???? scope or a 3-9x???? compact scope for it
i mean you can get a regular scope but i would buy a deflector for it, so it doesnt get banged up

should be able to get the scope and mount for @$50
if you need some links let me know, i found my set up and my local gunshop

Hey thanks for the reply. Links would be appreceated. I was shooting armour plates in the last testing period and had some returns(at least it keeps you from getting bored). So for safety i am moving a little further back.

How accurate are these $40 scope mount/ scope combos?  Does the zero hold when the cover/mount is removed for cleaning and then reinstalled?  It looks appealing for the price for a poor shot like myself.

to be honest the sks is not recomended for scope use thats why they never put a scope on them from the start but if you are going to put a scope on it go with a millet rear sight scope mount $35.00 or drill and tap for a scope mount on the side of the reciever these are the best wat to go because they always hold zero and as for other scope mounts such as reciever cover scope mounts and gas tube mount dont waste the money because they move way too much your groups will be differnt every time you shoot get a millet they are the best and dont require trashing the rifles worth with holes and other non retuning modifacations my honest opinion  dan

I put the cheap one on and it hold zero good. Seems like have put quite a few rounds through it and it's holding up well.
