as some of you know I just got a sks -m and it did not come with mags and just so I can go shoot this weekend I went up to my local gun store and picked up a plinker tactical ak47 magazine and it will not seat and latch.

With my AK mag SKS's I have found they like the Chinese the best, but work with anything, but the Chinese mags are easier to insert an lock in place.
It is common for aftermarket AK mags to need filing on the bottom of the catch on the back of the mags in order to latch into the weapon. |

When I get new AK mags, unless they are rare variants, I file the catch tabs to fit my AK perfectly. |

I used some Bulgarian waffle mags in mine with out problems. I have found that bulgarians will not seat in mine. The polish polymers with steel locking lugs and feed lips lock up fine and just about any metal mag locks up fine but for some reason no bulgarian mags I have tried in my m will lock up at all on the front latch. |
