I just received one of the type 56, from Classic. Their packing job sucks. One piece of small bubble wrap, in a box 3x too big. Box was torn up and the forearm word had a new chip taken out. I'm surprised there wasn't more damage done. Anyways, after cleaning it up it's a pretty nice gun.
It has a 6 digit serial number (I paid for all matching sn), to the left of the triangle 56. There are no Chinese characters any where. Is this a first year, 1956, Sino-Soviet? Thanks |

The SS's have a letter followed by a (usually) 4-digit number. There is debate about which came first, although I lean toward the SS being before the 6-digit rifles. These coming from Albania are the first 6-digit Model 56 /26\ I've ever seen. The commonly used dating system for the Factory 26 Model 56 SKS is: anything below 1 million = 1956, 1 million = 1957, 2 million = 1958, etc. Hope this helps. Cheers |
