I tried checking the headspacing on three different Norinco SKS rifles, with odd results.
Though I disassembled/cleaned the bolts on all rifles (removing the extractor/spring/firing pin, etc), they did not close on the "Go" gauge. The headspace gauges were purchased new from Brownells, and the rifles will fire standard M43 7.62x39 rounds. Houston, do we have a problem? |

If the rifle works and the bolt closes on factory ammo, I would not worry. What's the spec on your go gage? There was a thread a while back about the differences between SAMMI and Commie specs for 7.62x39.
The only headspace gage I own is the 'field' and I check my rifles for excess headspace yearly. BSW |
