| Any thoughts on the KVAR AK-74 sidefolder krink kit for $700? |
|
Here comes the noob question of the day for someone who has never owned an AK, and only had a couple of SKS's .... Is the trigger gaurd that big of a deal / that hard to get? Why wouldnt it be in the kit? A couple of us that bought those kits today are going to use a Arsenal SLR-105 gun/receiver. Wouldnt the trigger gaurd that comes on that receiver work or do we need something else? Thanks, Brett |
Itll work perfectly, just leave it mated to the receiver when you de-comission the SLR. |

My K-var Krinkov kit arrived yesterday. All the major groupings are neatly packaged in heat sealed plastic bags. It is slightly smaller than it appears to be in photographs. Like the others I do wonder what sort of trigger guard assembly I will need and whether just any trigger guard assembly will fit without any fuss. FYI The handguard really is painted a cheesy brown color. I'd always thought this was the result of odd lighting in online photographs. Nope! Galland |
What receiver would you suggest? A Hesse, or how about a Greenlight? |
| OK, You asked for it, an arsenal SLR-105, around $400 for the complete rifle, strip off all the parts and sell them, $100 to $150 in a quality receiver, its heat treated, has all correct features, trigger hump, chicken feet, safety dimples, and its BULGARIAN, matches your kit perfect. |
| Apparently having the 'correct' receiver will make your krink fire much nicer and it will be more authentic (except for the third hole and required domestic parts). I mean, everyone at the range will spot your fake immediately and you'll be branded a poser for life. It's vitally important. How could you be so crass as to place a parts kit on such a POS USA receiver. I mean, REALLY!!!! |

I just got two of K-Var's Krink kits. One will get SBR'ed and the other........???.........I haven't decided yet. But both WILL get built on US receivers and look and shoot just friggin' fine! As far as the trigger guards, I talked to Bob at K-Var PLUS I have both in my shop and the only difference I see is the mag flapper/latch. The trigger guards look the same to me but the top portion of the actual magazine "latch" is formed slightly thinner on the 74 than the 47. I personally converted a 47 to a 74 years ago using the same trigger guard and latch (etc) and it is a SWEET rifle and works just fine. Now to get the receivers and Form 1's started...............
