Hey Guys
I have a sgl31-84 in 5.45mm with Metal side Folding Stock. How difficult wound it be to have this converted to a Krink by installing a Bluejack Barrel? I would have an approved form 1 of course Thanks |

You would have to:
1) Press out the barrel pin 2) Press out the barrel 3) Press in new barrel (measure dimensions first) 4) Headspace new barrel to your bolt 5) Drill barrel pin hole in new barrel 6) Press in barrel pin 7) Press on AKSU rear hinge block (measure dimensions first) 8) Drill and pin rear hinge block to barrel 9) Install handguard retainer 10) Press on FSB/GB combo block (measure dimensions first) 11) Drill and pin FSB/GB combo block 12) Drill out gas piston rivet in bolt carrier 13) Remove existing piston and chase threads with tap 14) Chase threads on new piston with die 15) Install piston into bolt carrier (leave 1mm-2mm clearance between the two) 16) Drill new piston for rivet 17) Install rivet buy peening the two heads over sufficiently 18) Grind rivet heads flush with carrier 19) Refinish |

Thanks for that detailed answer. I guess what I should have asked was was it worth the trouble (Exspense) or should I have one built from a kit? Kit would be your best option. By the time you're done with the SGL conversion, you would have spent twice the amount. I can understand if you're going for a registered machine gun. That would be worth the expense. Otherwise, a Tula krink build would be far cheaper. |

I am referring to the cost of converting for the sake of having one platform turned into another platform. I know of a couple that did or in the process of doing it. Pay $17k for the registered ak, strip it down to the receiver, slap on a krink kit and voila! A select fire krink - and you only spent an additional $2k. It's chump change for some of the more privileged. It's a stretch I know - particularly in the context of the discussion. |

I've built 9 guns using bluejack barrels and every journal was spot on except for the trunnion journal. Those are 20 thou oversized to allow for trunnion variations. |

It's only a few hours of work for the person with the right tools. He may not have a shop press, a drill press, a belt sander, ect. in his garage. |
