| this is stamped on the side of my maadi. can someone explain what this means. please excuse me if it is a dumb question but i have had this rifle for quite some time and honestly i just don't know to much about them. i would also like to change the stocks to a black synthetic style. i would really like to install some type of folding stock so any pointers on where and what kind would be great. oh and what is a g2 trigger? and lastly if i wanted to have the rifle stripped and parkerised who can do that for me? this gun has been a great shooter and not one hiccup. i just thought instead of spending cash to buy another one i might as well upgrade this one. |

I will try first by sending you to this link:
http://home.comcast.net/~jfreeman16/page_4.htm more info here http://home.comcast.net/~jfreeman16/ S/A were made by Century Arms St. Albin VT A no frills copy of the sucessful Egyptian Maadi series (Steyr,ARM/RML/RPM/Misr-10/SA) and the MISR-MAK a egyptian/chinese combo. S/A stands for semi auto I think, you should have a good shooter, the bbl has been turned down but you can do like I did and have it threaded 1/2x28 RH and get a slant comp made by HOTBARREL over on the ak forum. my recent AKM http://www.theakforum.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=80044 K-var has stocks, why replace the authentic Russian type paint finish?!? |
| thanks for the info. so far this thing has been a great shooter. seems pretty accurate considering what it is. the only reason i thought about changing the finish was to pretty it up a bit. but, i does'nt really bother me that bad. i really need to change the stocks though cause these things look terrible. so, is it legal to have the barrel threaded for a flash hider? i always thought that it was illegal to do so but if it is'nt i would love to have it fitted with one. |
| the misr ak was a maadi that was imported into the usa withoout a hammer, trigger, or sear...thus they were considered parts kits by the atf and did not have to comply with 922 rules....i would put a tapco g2 fire control group (single hook) for 3 parts, usa pistol grip and handguards for 2 more parts, you could put a us made flash hider but you would probably have to have it permanantly attached as there are no threads...that is 6 parts....i would put a wire side folder on but you would need one more us part...a us made gas piston would do the trick....ymmv |

Here's a sound but of the pronunciation - closer to what Silkyila30 mentioned:

Here's a sound but of the pronunciation - closer to what Silkyila30 mentioned: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media:Misr-_Egypt_in_Arabic.ogg That was neat. But I heard "miss-rruh" clearly. I couldn't get the the link to play so I downloaded the file at the top of the page instead: Misr-_Egypt_in_Arabic.ogg Were they the same files/pronuciation? The one above sounds just as I wrote. My father is an Arab, I asked him many years ago and used his pronunciation that sounded, as I said IMO, exactly what I wrote. Play it again, he says "miss-rruh". There is no "errr" at the end, it's a "rruh" but real quick. But, Silky does have a point about dialect. Pronunciation can only be as good as the guy trying to pronounce it in his own way. Imagine Bwaney Fwank for example speaking any dialect from any language. |

Did you do it yourself or take it to a gunsmith? I saw a MISR SA that the smith wouldn't thread 1/2 x 28 as he felt it had been turned down too much. |
