Will the scope mount for the Vepr 7.62x39 that mounts on the side of the reciever, the one that Robinson Armament sells mar the finish in any way on the area where it attaches?

I'm not sure about that mount but AK mounts in general will mar the finish on the rail a bit.  It's a friction fit so it's somewhat unavoidable.  The good news is that the Vepr has a pretty tough finish so it should handle the use pretty well.

I have the VEPR rail on my VEPR-K 5.45x39.  I have taken it on and off quite a few times trying to decide whether or not I want a red dot or just the iron sights.  The finish seems to be pretty robust under there because there is only slight wear, if any at all.

What bipod is that on your rifle?

It's a Harris 6"-9"

I only had it on there for the picture to keep the rifle up

Do you like that bipod on your Vepr? Why or why not? I am thinking about buying a Harris bipod for mine.

I don't really use it on my VEPR.  I only used it to prop up the gun in the picture

Its a carbine with a red dot so I don't really do any precision shooting with it.  If I had mounted a magnified scope and was shooting from the bench, I would definately use it for that.  The contour of the VEPR handguard matches up with the Harris quite well

Is that your dog's tail on the left?

BTW I use a bipod on my Vepr K. It works great.

Yeah, that's Caesar.  He's a little camera shy.  Here's a better shot:
