I recently mounted a scope using a Russian scope mount.  Problem is, the impact area is still about 8 inches low at 100yds, even with the scope dialed up to the limits.  Anybody ever have this problem?  Any ideas on how to cope with it?   Thanks.

Which scope? Commie/western?
Commie scopes tend to have more moa of adj built into them, and also check the side rail to make sure it is parallel to the bore (usually a Romy prob only).

I had the same problem....
what i did was place a shim (ie. a specifically cut peice of aluminum-pop can- to raise the rear end of my scope.....)

It works great now.. and i dont have any problems with it moving..... the aluminum forms to the scope and mounts...and it expands and contracts at the same rate...

I've had the same problem.

Ruskie optics are designed to adjust ALOT more than western ones.  A ComBloc scope will do just fine.

Someone (Robarms?) has just come out with a mount that is adjustable in itself, that way you can dial in western scopes.

the pop can idea is nifty.  Just one layer? Inside the ring under the scope?

Here is a pic of work done by a member of another AK board. He had problems with a 50mm scope clearing the rear sight so he added a 3/8" shim to raise the height of the scope. Also he had the same sighting in problems and added a washer under the rear bolt.
Sporting  scopes sold in the US have elevation adjustments that will move the bullet impact a total of 40-50 inches depending on model/brand. Russian scopes are military scopes so like most scopes for tactical/sniper rifles have elevation adjustments of 70-80 inches. So with a Russian scope you wouldn't have this problem like you do with a US scope with 1/3  less the amount of adjustment.
