I was steered here from the general armory forum. I'm wondering about high capacity mags for the VEPR .308. 1. If anything available now works OK. 2. If anyone has heard if Hi-caps will be available after the AWB dies? Thanx. |

I suspect there are no Russian "high cap" mags to import. But I'm not sure on that. So that would leave a US or maybe Chinese company to make some after the ban expires. The other possibility is that people have had success modifying galil mags to function. I'm not certain how the AWB would affect that because at present no one can "manufacture" a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds and if you were to modify a Galil mag so that it would no longer work in a Galil you would be manufacturing a new mag. There have been other posts describing how to modify mags so someone else might have more info on that. |

www.robarm.com Go to the Vepr section then click Customizing Veprs they have some info for converting M14 mags to work. |

I have three 12 round Galil mags waiting to be fitted to my Vepr. Someone posted here a while back that all that needs to be done is to open up the front of the mag well a bit and knock the sharp corners off the side of the mags and they will work fine. My observations of the magwell and the mags seem to indicate that this is true. Apparently the original mags still function after the mods. However, I have yet to take the dremel to my rifle. I am planning to move across the country this summer and have been... distracted...
