I had a few questions for those of you with some knowledge/experience regarding theis weapon. 1. Does the VEPR II (.308) & VEPR K (.223) accept any full capacity mags (FAL, HK, etc.), or if not is there a modification to allow for such accomodation? 2. I hear alot about accuracy improvements over AKs. Are the barrels of all VEPR models chrome lined? 3. What is the avg weight gain over the standard AK The Big One: Is the VEPR worth it? (since this is subjective I broke the question down a bit) - Even in terms of use/abuse is the added strength really needed vs. a quality stamped AK receiver? - Why not a Galil or a Valmet? Are there any reasons to favor the VEPR (especially the expensive models) over one of these classics? |

Barrels are chrome lined- semi heavy. evaluate the advantages of a Lexus over a Toyota and you have your answer. If you're a lexus guy, go with a Vepr. If a Toyota fan, go with a regular AK ('cept 308, then convert a Saiga or go with Vepr) I own allo of the above and will keep my 308 Vepr I ! Just don't use brake cleaner on it as it will stip the finish! |
| Conversion to Galil .308 mags is easy and cheap. You don't modify the mag so it's legal. Took me about an hour and the 12 round mags are 19.99 each brand new from CDNN, way cheaper than original mags and look a lot nicer, better quality. The original mags still work fine too. I posted a thread on the AK tech forum. |
Just read this. I have a Lexus and I will soon be ordering a Krebs KTR-03V. I guess you're right about people who value that sort of thing. |
Can you use brake cleaner in the action and the bolt? without damaging anything? Cause I have a VEPR K 7.62 X 39 and use brake cleaner all the time and the finish is still fine. |
