Is there any part out there than allows one to mount an optic to a VEPR, other than the Ultimak rail or side mount? I'm looking for a rock solid platform that puts the optic towards the rear of the rifle.

Solid and rearward equals side rail mount. There is an actual VEPR bracket, very well made with unique angle/height adj, about $80 if I recall, at FAC or robarm.com. Other options exist depending on what you want to mount.

go to www.cdnninvestments.com and look at their saiga mount. $40 and it should fit all side rails
