Hello,
So i recently made the jump to 5.45x39 and built an AR to shoot it. Just wondering if i makes sense to get a AK chambered in the same round. I could do some traces and get 8 to 10 mags ez. then its about 800 for a converted Saiga. Thanks |

I know of some guys that went down this path and the main issue was getting a hammer spring strong enough to do the job on the steel primer. Never having had an AR build around the caliber but having owned 5-AK74s at one time before getting out of the 5.45 game I can tell you one thing. The 5.45x39 is best left to the AK74. In this instance but just my opinion. |

So i picked this up today for 800 bucks and only 30 rounds down tube. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8520/8673312775_15c6c8a096.jpg not bad at all. you have a Russian receiver and barrel, everything else can be changed to the level of correctness (configuration wise) you desire. Mine shoots like a dream. |

Grind it out yourself. My 5.45 Saigas dont have bullet guides in them, still work just fine feeding from Surplus mags.
Getting the trigger back together and the retainer plate in place is pretty easy. I'd be irritated about the bullet guide but then again, you can make one yourself from a $1 piece of plumbing pipe. |
