Just received my VEPR in 54R, and while I was inspecting the receiver I noticed what looked like a little rust in between the receiver body and what I think is the trunnion.
Could this happen on a rifle that was manufactured in 2012 and if so what should I do to eliminate it
Thanks

That stuff will seep out for a long time.

I'm glad to hear this. Given its only a week old I didn't want to have to send it back.

Should I use some gunscrubber and try to clean it out. Not sure what solvent is safe to use on these rifles.
Any help much appreciated.

Squirt in a little CLP or something equivalent and scrub with the little end of a GI cleaning brush.
