| I'm buying a SGL31-62 from Atlantic Firearms, and putting a list together of upgrades to the rifle. Does the SGL31 series come with a chrome lined muzzle brake like the Arsenal AK-141US, or should I throw a chrome lined muzzle brake on my list too? |

The original US made brake for the SGL31-44 was chrome lined but to my knowledge none of the ones after that were like Nictra said.
I like chrome lined brakes because they look nifty when super clean, but I also don't think it's necessary to have it if you take care of them...and honestly they never really get nifty clean again if you use them regularly anyway. I don't think it's a good idea to have a 74 type brake permanently attached though, an enormous amount of carbon builds up on the end of the muzzle so be sure to remove them often to keep them from getting stuck in place. It does happen. Z |
| Gents, thank you for the replies. I had found a few threads on the subject that were a couple years old, and wanted to confirm if the non-chrome lined brake was still being used. I do want a chrome lined brake mainly for the easier cleaning qualities as TX-Zen pointed out. I would get a Russian surplus brake with the pressed baffle, but I am going to get the AK-141US brake from Arsenal instead to get my 922r parts count up since I have a Russian AK-74 stock set on the way. I have one on my Arsenal/G-Tech K-101 and I like it even though the damn thing won't budge now after my last time shooting it...forgot to put anti-seize on the threads. |
