Just did this didn't know if anyone else has done this?
I took a regular ak retainer cut the top section and now use regular handguards without removing the fsb.

I'm not that photo savvy but brownells has a hand guard retainer that's where igot my idea.

the one with the screw through it? Some have been doing that from time to time. I'm just a stickler for "correct". Nothing wrong with it, not even visible when the rifle is assembled. Just me.

no 1st hand experience. The Dinzag works well. I would think this would also. My assumption is that you would still want some sort of relief in the barrel to hold it in place....

I think the newer saigas have the relief already cut into the barrel.

I got mine last November. I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

Yup, that is how the one I got in 2009 is. I am still debating on how the hell to cut the top relief without fouling up my barrel....

The bolt I used was thin enough not to have to file the relief. It worked very well I took it out and ran 100 rounds through it.
