Has anyone tried using the Scherer muzzle adapter?  I just removed a bad FSG off an older EAA .223.  This looks like a quick, cheap way to try different muzzle devices before going the barrel threading route.  I have put an HK type FSG on for now.  This .223 will be scoped most of the time...I am hoping to find a recoil compensator that will allow me to see bullet hits and allow faster follow up shots.

They have a strong tendency to blow off, sailing down range.

To get them to stay put, you need to drill at least shallow detent holes for the mounting screws and watch it to be sure the screws don't loosen.
Even then they still tend to sail away.
If you use Loctite on the screws, the barrel heat from rapid fire will cause it to break down.

Also, tighten the screws as evenly as possible.  Uneven tightening may cause the muzzle attachment to be misaligned and you can get bullet strikes on the attachment.

It should work for experiments, but unless you drill deep detent holes it may not last long term.
