| Who makes a GOOD, low profile, over the bore, AK scope mount? Got a Saiga .223 that I'm going to try as a calling gun before I convert it, and want to mount a red dot or something like that on it. Thanks. Greg |
| There are several options here. The most basic is a side mount. Most of these mounts tend a sit 1/2" to one side or the other. The topcovers with the built in rails tend to shift a round. The best way is to go with a scout setup. I use a UTG rail system that is cheap and solid. The Ultimak railed gastube seems to be the preferred method. |
| I'm going to go with the BP-02 mount, and rebuild it as previously suggested. For now I'm going with just a cheap 4x compact scope and use it on my 20'' for a coyote calling rig. If the outfit works out well, I may put something better on it. If I'm going to use it as a hunter, for the $260 the Kobra costs, I'd probably go with a decent scope. Greg |

I've been looking at that Ultimak cover for the S12:
100 bucks just seems very high for such a small/simple part |

I've heard the top rail mounts move when you fire the gun. Now most folks would say that is just because of the inaccuracy of the AK but I call bullshit. I have a side mount scope and I can hit damned near anything. Not sure where the boyfriend found this one though. http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k390/YaholaFults/DSCF0789.jpg If by "damned near anything" you mean minute of dirt clod than I believe you. Ultimak is solid is doesn't force the shooter into a neck weld. |
