Are there any non-conversion side folders for the Saiga that are <$180.?

I am pretty tall and have no reason to shorten the rifle by 2", so I have no reason to do the conversion.  The side folder does look convinient for my new CCW permit though.  I just have a hard time paying $180 for one.

You would have to be legally compliant with 922(r).  This folder would count as 2 US parts.  Not sure, but I think you would then have to come up with 3 more US part, the thermold US 30 round mags would work and count as 3 US parts and don't need a bullet guide installed.

You might not want to spend that much, but unless you do, there is no other way I know of to do it and do it legally short of the full conversion which will still come in close to that price anyway.

CCW's in MN let you carry a rifle concealed?

You can get "Nato Length" stocks that are longer than the short Russian and Chinese stocks.
(Those are Warsaw Pact length.)
I'm pretty sure a Nato length stock would get you the 2" you are wanting.
I think all of the longer stocks are Armerican made, so you would need to change parts to keep the gun 922r compliant.

You could do the gas piston and use Promag Saiga mags, and you'd be good, or some other American mag (?) and American handguards.

But, I can't see how a folding stock would work very well, or look very good, with the current trigger.
I think you should convert.

He wants a folder, not a fixed stock.

I'll just hold out a little while until later when I either get the gumption to do the conversion or the price comes down.

The price on that stockset will never come down, it will most likely stop being made and you will have no choice but to do a conversion.
