I've had my eye on a Saiga 12 since right AFTER they quit importing them the first time. I discovered that they existed, and remember seeing them in CDNN in the early 2000's for close to $279 or so. I got very excited when I heard they were being imported again. But, I procrastinated, and they became very scarce. I picked one up this week for $495 in hand from a local dealer. This seemed in line with what I was seeing online, once I added in shipping and transfer fees. Plus, they had 3 in stock, so no wait time. Brand new, still has russian cosmoline/oil on it. The owner's manual was a hilarity in poor english translation.

I ordered 3 AGP 10rd mags to go with the 1 stock 5rd mag. I may pick up more later. Soon, I'll work on converting it to PG style.

So I'm pretty excited that I finally got my hands on one, even if it was more expensive than I had originally budgeted (they were going for $379 from the same dealer when RAAC first got them here), but I rest easy knowing that I DO IN FACT have one! Especially with the unknown looming in November.

I do actually have a question. Most of the parts that I would ever need to replace are domestically produced, AK-related conversion parts (FCG, gas piston, furniture, etc). My concern is over the bolt, firing pin, and bcg. Are these parts available as spares? If so, who has them and what are fair prices? I don't want to have to buy a second gun just to have spare parts, because I have my eye set on some other weapons as well.

Thanks in advance and happy shooting!

Thanks for the tip. I've contacted him for a price list.

I think I'm going to try for an AKS-1274 build, that is a Saiga-12 in the AKS-74 style. Wooden handguards, triangular russian buttstock, and 74 muzzle brake. We'll see how it all turns out, depends on budget and difficulty!
