| Can some one post a picture showing the area on the mag catch that needs filing down? I bought a 7.62X39 and plan to convert to the AK. I have read about what needs to be done but I need to see a picture. Thanks, Ken |
| It is usually the very top of the tab that comes in contact with the mag.Some need very little filing so if you do it go easy and test fit several different mags as some mags are a little different.If you take off to much the mags will be loose.Also have you went to the saiga12.com site.Lots of good info on saigas.The 7.62 is not as picky about this as is the 223 conversion. |

Wouldn't it be easier to fit each mag by filing the bottom of the mag catch instead of filing down the top of the mag release which may make some mags loose, and some still real tight? Just curious. hinking.gif |
If you do the mod correctly (carefully), you will end up with a good fit with all mags. You are basically making the catch the same as a standard AK's catch, so if it's done right, you won't see any problems. |
