I started this thread hoping that LoneWolfUSMC would reply.  I am looking to get a WASR10 but I have questions on what to look for when picking one out.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Start by looking down the top for straight sights, and on the side the optics rail should be parallel to the bbl/rec top edge.

Why dont you email him?

on those ide look for defects all over  since they are so poorly made, also compare it with a Yugo, better yet buy the yugo instead if you can.unless you want the extras that a wasr-10 comes with..

First look at the front sight post. If it's cranked all the way to one side then the FSB is probably canted.

Sight down the rife from the butt. It should be obvious if it is or not. To check the Gas Block, look down from above the rifle.

Check for mag wobble too. Mine has a little, but it is what I would consider acceptable.

Also make sure it says "TAPCO USA" on the trigger.

You want the TAPCO G2 trigger (actually a fire control group) because it is much better than the one Century prviously used in the WASR.
The easy way to tell the difference is to squeeze the trigger (after making sure the rifle is unloaded). If the pull is stiff, gritty and long, it's a Century trigger. If it's light, smooth and short, it's a G2.

i have a wasr-10 that i got really lucky on, no cant, the conversion to hi-cap was done well, mag wiggle isnt too bad, and it runs like a top.  however, if i was to do it again, i would have spent a few more pennies and made my beater ak a sar-1, if for no reason other than to have the mil-spec receiver.

plus, you will never have some one ask you "why did you buy that pos" haha

I also have a WASR-10. I was at the range the other day and someone else had one as well. His had the Tapco G2 group and mine does not. I really could not tell much of a difference although his was slightly easier but not enuf to get the G2. I will however go with the RED STAR ARMS FCG. Read alot of good things about it. Anyone here have it??

I got my WASR10 from AIM and am very happy with it. I don't know alot about AK's but I know mine does not have canted sights, it does have a G2 which I like alot, comes w/ 2 mags, mag pouch, oil bottle, buttstock cleaning kit w/ sight tool, and bayonet. and although it has some mag wobble it is in my mind very little. $320(AIM)+$14(UPS)+$10(FFL)=$344. 60rnds through it and am very happy (Got it last week).

I just looked and it is no longer on their website. They may be updating it.
