Local gun shop has a WASR/CAI 10/63 with a side-folding stock (looks synthetic) and a wide, black synthetic forearm (SAW type?).  FSB looks straight.

They're asking $500, which I know is probably a little high, but is it "price gouging/runaway" high?

it does'nt matter what other people think. is it worth it to you?
i paid $500 for an underfolder of the same make/model. as far as i'm concerned, it was some of the best money i've spent on a firearm.

Thanks brian45auto; I understand your logic, but what I guess I'm trying to get at is whether it's a good fair price, or whether I'd be better off buying a plain wood stocked model and then buying replacemebnt parts seperately.

I understand the shop needs to make a profit and stay in business, but I also think it's unfair how some shops charge MSRP or more on an uneducated public, so I'm trying to get edumacated.

I'd say it's a little on the high side, but by no means gouging.  The stock and foregrip are probably what's driving up the price, and then of course the shop's cut.  I'd say go for it if this rifle hits a chord with you or if it is in excellent condition, which is to say that the bore is good and the metal finish is nice.  Of course, if they let you do a range test take them up on it.  If it performs there, you've got it made.

I have never paid over $340 for one except for one but it came if 5 mags and a bayonet. Even then I only paid $375

I got mine for $440 at the Houston gun show in May--$500 isn't a gouge, but slightly lower prices are out there.
