I really want a AK74, but it costs too much, so I'm in the market for a wasr-2. Just wanted some info on this gun. Has anyone had problems with this gun personally? I've heard 3 bad things about this rifle(canted sights, bad mag latch, bad head space) but I just want a ak in 5.45x39 because of the nice recoil and flat traj. Is there any other negatives about this rifle other than the 3 above? Also, how hard is it to install a new mag latch on a wasr-2?

The three Wasr-3s I had were terrible. Buy a Wasr-2 at your own risk. There are used Sar-2s for sale sometime that will not cost much more than the Wasr-2. Save your pennies......

I had a wasr 2 and 3, I had no problems with either. I heard that on some of the wasr 3's that the mag latch was not long enough.

Well...The mag catch was too short on two of them. The safety would not function on one and two of them would not eject chambered rounds. I believe the headspace was not correct. The receiver cover didn't fit one correctly and scratched the bolt carrier. The mags also wobbled excessively as compared to a quality rifle. One rifle had terrible gouges in the gas block......... hmmmmmm..... Thats all I can think of now.....Just be prepared for a cheap rifle.
