[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Threading a 12mm barrel?

I have an 03 SAR-1 and I am looking at my options for attaching a muzzle brake.

I measured the diameter of the barrel past the FSB and it comes to .475 inches or just over 12mm. Is this to thin to thread?

I noticed Global trades sells a 74 brake that works with 7.62 and fits on 1/2-28 threads.
