[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Difference in handguards????

Whats the difference in the drop handle handguards and the regular ones.
I know what the physical difference is. Did they come on specific models?
Also can the drop handle be replaced with standard?

I am soon to purchase my first AK and have seen both. Just wanted to
know a little more.

I assume you are talkingabout guns with a front grip. I have one on mine and it makes the weapon much more controllable during rapid fire. They are very easy to change out. Wood and polymer models are available.

I took off the standard stocks and put the wood foregrip and folder on my WASR10. Here's mine:

I haven't bumped the heck out of this one yet but I theorize the the wood fore grip will not get as hot as a standard wooden forearm.

This is the case with my polymer forgrip and railed forearm that I put on my SAR-1.
