What's wrong with a 74 brake? They drop the recoil.

The 74 brake does help with accuracy but makes it a lot louder. I am getting 2" groups at 100 yards and 5" groups at 200 yards.

Did you thread your barrel yourself?  Or is your WASR came with a slant brake?  I been wanting to get my slant brake off ( ended up messing up all the finish on the brakehink
Just Wondering if your brake is 14X1 LHT, or you got one of those US threads...if thats the case, let me know where you got that 74 brake!!!

thanks man

looks good. i'm trying to do close to the same with my wsar. well, no bi-pod or scope. i wanted one rifle to have the tactical look to it and then one have the beat up, good ole AK look. went with the cheapest for the tactical look. can't stand the plain black upper handguard cover over the tdi though, i'm not sure what i want to do. tempted to get a vented one and toss it on there.

also curious about the 74 break.

For what it's worth I added a 74 style brake to my Yugo UF and it made a difference at least to me, in both recoil and accuracy.  But as said previously it is a lot louder now especially if your standing to the sides of the firing position.

I threaded the barrel myself. It is the standard 14x1 LH. The brake is from http://www.preciseinnovationsllc.com/

Cigolon: I had the same idea of getting a standard AK also. Thought about the vented hand guard too.

74 break is great for muzzle raise, just make sure you're getting either an original military one, or a quality copy. I don't hear a difference in noise, but it definitely has a flash.

Thanks for the replys. I have more invested in the accessories than I do in the gun I got the scope from militaryoptics.com. It has a nice field of view and I chose the diopter model (focusable). It uses a standard AA battery for the recticle so I don't have to mess around looking for one of those odd russian batteries. I'm gonna shoot tomorrow so maybe I'll post some target pics.

I got the buttstock($39.99) and upper hand guard($16.99) from K-var. I got the TDI lower hand guard($49.95), RSA trigger($75.00), pistol grip($19.95), and retainer plate($12.95) from Blackjack buffers. The scope was $185.00. Harris Bipod and rail adapter from Cabela's. I work for Cabela's so I got a nice fat discount on the bipod
