I'm getting ready for my first AK.  Acc'd to the owner it has operated flawlessly and has not seen many rounds.  I want to get a blond furniture kit, AK74 Type Muzzle Brake and maybe an underfolder, but I have no idea what fits.  I never knew that there were so many differnet AKs and combinations.  Any hints will be much appreciated.

All I know is that it's a semi-new WASR Romanian AK with a welded muzzle nut on it.  I've included some pictures if it helps at all.
Thanks.

I picked up a WASR today.

Side folding Galil type stock, threaded muzzle with slant break, a true No Ban so to speak.

I am happy with it, but think the side folder is a POS that will break before long.  I have an old rubber block and underfolder stock that I will try and put on, but I do belive that the scope mount on the side of the receiver might interfear with that.  The Mag well is also a bit tight, but will work in im sure after I work with it a bit.

That's a fake muzzle nut.  Underneath the barrel has been turned down and it's not threaded.

It will be too small to thread to 14 x 1LH.

So I'm screwed, no muzzle brake for me?  What about a threaded sight block?

No you are not screwed.  You just can't thread to 14 x 1 in the current configuration.

You can still thread to 1/2 x 28 which is AR size muzzle devices.

And yes, the threaded front sight base is an option.

Another option is to push the front sight base back, chop some off the barrel end and re-crown. This will give you a barrel end you can thread to 14x 1. It will also give you a shorty look, but then you'll probably need to pin on the muzzle device to keep the barrel length at 16".

I didn't mean to freak you out, I just wanted you to be informed.
