Hello, I have a WASR10 that has developed an ejection problem....

I have posted this on a few other forums but haven't got any advise. My brother convinced me to join your forum and ask here...

I have shot probably around 500 rounds and had a total of 2 stovepipe jams. Then after thoroughly cleaning the rifle I get 1 ejection jam per mag for the next 100 rds.

When the failure occurs, the empty round is either stovepiped or pointed up inside the port. Tipping the rifle to the side, pulling the bolt back and letting the empty fall out is all that is needed to get back in action. Many of my empty cases have the mouth dented but I don't see where they are hitting. My ejector has a small bevel on the inside upper corner, closest to the firing pin, should it not have a bevel?

... meanwhile I have ordered a new extractor and spring, hopefully that's a good place to start?

TIA,
Jeff

Jeff, this one still has me stumped, its odd for an AK to have malfunction after cleaning. This type of problem used to be common with some AR type rifles, the carbon buildup was actually assisting the sealing of gases.Try re-posting this on the AK general discussions page, there is much more traffic over there.

I'm not much help, but I'm kind of surprised Campy hasn't been around to see this. He'll know.

From the limited info you gave...... My stab in the dark....... Do you have any of the cases that stoved piped on hand...????? If so take a look and see if you can find the ejector mark. It's acting like it's skipping over the ejector. It can happen with out of tolerance parts or reciver. I=ve had this happen to me with a OOW reciver. It's in the Inrange shop as we speak for this very same problem. When fired it would travel back and only skim the ejector and not knock the case out. Then on forward travel of the bolt carrier it would strip a new round from the mag and wham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A Jam. New round and old round trying to get to the same place ..The chamber.... My spent case that caused the jams would have barely a knick on the case rim where the ejector hit it. Some would have only a drag mark. If it is stripping a new round it came back far anough for the case to hit the ejector and be tossed.  I haven't heard of this with a real commier eciver. But is common for a OOW one. Best of luck to ya, WarDawg
