I have seen claims over the internet that stamped reciever AK's such as the SAR's will not stand up to full auto fire. If this is true, wouldn't bump firing have the same effect on the reciever.

I guess that's why the Romanians/Russians etc use stamped recievers on all of their full auto rifles.

There's still a great predjudice against stamped receivers here in the US.  Towards the end of WWII US intelligence thought the appearance of the stamped STG-44 was a "last ditch" weapon, rather than the next step in evolution.

Off the top of my head, here are some stamped guns that seem to work fine on full-auto:
AK
STG-44
MG-42
MP38/40
MP-5
G-3
HK-33
HK-21
HK-11
M3 Grease Gun
STEN (well some work)
AR-18
Madsen SMG
et al.

It's not the fact that a gun is stamped that means it's inferior.  There are many milled guns out there that won't even feed on semi because they are just poorly built.  Many people think having a gas piston makes a gun automatically reliable, yet the Brit SA-80 has a piston.  Need we say more?

It's how well a gun is designed and built (i.e. it's quality) that determines if it works or not.

Most people can't get their minds around the idea that a gun that only costs $350 in a gun shop can be any good.   But those folks can't probably get their mind around other concepts as well.

As long as the metal was hardened correctly the stamped is better...IMO

It is likely that with moderate care, or any care at all, the stamped AKM will outlast most of its owners and their children and grand children.
