I have an SAR 1 with maybe 1500 rounds through it. Trigger slap was never very noticeable, that is, until this weekend at the range. It downright hurt. I need to do something about the trigger and I know everyone raves about red star triggers. Thing is, I don't really want to spend $90.(w/ship) on a trigger. I know it can be adjusted to make it a 2 stage, but I don't really need that feature.
What are my other options, if any?
Thanks

Gordon technologies makes a replacement trigger or you can just file off the back of the sear.

personally, I think you still can not go wrong with the RSA trigger.

Don't know if I trust myself to go filing on trigger parts.
Will the Gordon Tech trigger give me a smoother pull?

The Gordon would be better, but I would try this first.

M4, I just did the fix that ober linked to. It was very easy to do. The hardest part was getting the FCG back together. I will take the AK out to the range on Sunday and let you know how it went if you'd like.

M4bangr....

Here is a letter I just sent to linux on the Romanian site. It may explain why you never noticed the trigger slap before, but now do.

Howdy....

I went through your trigger slap fix on the romanian ak site.

It helped, but there was more to be done to make it work.

I couldn't understand why the slap seemed intermittant. I finally realized
that if you pulled the trigger hard, as in rapid fire, there was no slap. But,
when the trigger was carefully pulled, for target work, the slap was there.

What's happening is the hammer is hitting on the top side of the sear for
the target work, but since the trigger is pulled slightly further during rapid
fire, the hammer didn't hit on the top side of the sear.

I filed just a small amount of metal off the top side of the sear, shown in
red on the photo. Didn't take much....only about .025" thousandths of
metal to remove.

Note: Do not remove any of the contact surface of the sear, on the bottom side, that touches the hammer. However, the material that is removed comes very close to the trailing edge, but tapers off prior to it.

My trigger slap is now completely gone.

Thanks for the tip hogship.  I did the job detailed on the Linx310 site with the trigger polish and it's pretty nice.  If trigger slap becomes a problem later though I'll know where to look.

I took the AK out for a spin after having "fixed" the trigger. It worked great. I did however have two slaps that I noticed. I will be doing what hogship did to his sear.

Lots of really good info. Thanks guys. I picked up a G2 from Tapco and will install it pretty soon. Can't wait to see what it feels like.
