Anybody here notice how lound they are, well I mean to the poor people standing away or besides the gun.  standing behind the gun and pulling the trigger its lound.  but I let somebody fire my gun and I stood on the left side of them and when they pulled the trigger I thought I went deaf, I wear double protection plugs and phones.  What makes the noise lounder for people not behind the trigger? is it that it throws the noise to the sides through the holes?

i never really thought the romak-3 was that loud.

compared to the mosin-nagant m-44, i think the fsp/psl sniping rifle is less abusive on the ear.

the long bbl. gets the sound away from the shooter, but the brake does have a tendancy to redirect the blast wave both up and to the sides. you are correct is your assumption about the brake. the moving exhaust gases are carrying the sound waves (and the associated painful pressure levels) off to the side of the muzzle.
