During a trip to the range today my WASR was not reseting the hammer every couple of shots. Then after recharging the handle a few rounds went off without pulling the trigger. After that little excitment I decided to clear it and shut it down and try to figure out what the heck happened. Walked back to the truck. After pulling the cover and recoil spring I noticed the trigger just flopping around. Missing the trigger pivot pin that goes through the trigger and receiver. Had a Tapco single hook in there. Where do I find a trigger pin and what is suppose to hold it in there, the spring that is on the left side of the receiver while looking through the top? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

There are a lot of places to buy an axis pin. (The pin for the hammer and the pin for the trigger are identical.) AK Builder and Apex Gun Parts are two that come to mind.
The wire retains the hammer pin and the trigger pin. If you have the one which is attached to the center support, it runs under the hammer pin and over the trigger pin. Make certain that the wire is in the groove on both pins.

Here's a link to the retainer plate you need...

The retainer plate eliminates the need for the "shepherds crook" wire retainer.. Plus, it's so easy to install, you could practically do it blind folded. You might need to file a little bit on the retainer plate to make it fit, but other than that you'll be good to go..

As for the trigger pin....

Btw: Shipping on these two items shouldn't be too much (probably less than $4) and too - Curtis (AK-builder) ships quickly too .

I hope this helps ..

Thanks for the replies. Plan on trying the retainer plate set-up. Will order extra pins too.

you're welcome . Good deal .

You'll love the retainer plate setup.. It just drops right in and its way more secure than the "shepherds crook" retainer wire.

75 million or more AKs were built using a wire to retain the axis pins. The rifle didn't get its reputation for reliability by having the pins fall out...

Got the rifle back together last night. Replaced the hammer spring and disconnector spring while I was in there. Have an extra pin now for the range bag. Installed the Red Star FCG pin retaining plate. Damn, the part dropped right in and looks like it will much better than the original. AK- Builder was great to deal with. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks again for all the advice.
