I had changed the muzzle brake on my WASR from the original slant brake to this ak74 style brake I picked up at the gun show. The first time I went shooting after changing the brake, which was a long time, I found the rifle was suddenly shooting ridiculously high. I put the rifle away, figuring at some point I'd get the tool and have to re-zero the sights. A few weeks ago I decided to change a few things on the rifle, one of which was to put the slant brake back on. I took the '74 brake off and put it on the table. My girlfriend picked it up and noticed what she thought was rust in the brake. I'll let the pictures explain the rest.

| Could be slop in the threads on the gun, the threads on the breaks, or both. I just replaced the slant break that came on my WASR with one from CNC Warrior. The one that came on it was loose on the threads and wobbled a lot. The CNC Break wouldn't even go on it though because the muzzle threads were so sloppy. I cleaned up the threads with my threading die and the CNC break goes on cleanly and there is almost zero wobble. Properly done threading can make all the difference. |
