| I'm sure this has been asked a gazillion times, but the search function showed me no love. Is there anything that can be done to help with the loose mag well on the WASR's? I got a WASR underfolder in a trade and the magwell is horrible. Just curious if anyone has figured anything out. |

Did you check with a loaded magazine?
Lateral play of the magazine is inherent in the design. That being said, if you simply want to "fix" something which isn't broken, people have reported that they have reduced lateral play by epoxying a plate to the inside of the receiver. IIRC, the plate was cut from the pieces used to cover the empty slots in the back of a PC. |

I picked up a WASR a month or so ago and the wobble on it was HORRIBLE with .milsurp mags but it still hand cycled ammo fine with them. The wobble was fine with the Tapco mags that came with it though. I couldn't even get the Tapco mags to fit in my Norinco or SAR-1 because they were too wide to fit into the magwell.
I think Century mills out the magwell so they they'll accept the Tapco mags they ship with them but the Tapco mags are much wider than the .milsurp ones. Functionally though it isn't an issue as POLY said. |

I saw a deal on youtube where a guy JBwelded thin sheet metal on the inside to stop the wobble. Just sayin lol.

The one I am buying has some wobble too, even with the shipped Tapco mags. However I plan to use the metal ones. I am going to test it out before i start throwing JB Weld to it.
The ones I have shot recently all seem to wobble a bit, you would be surprised how much. Coming from an AR background where everything is tight as hell, it's different, but still functions none the less. I would shoot it a few times with both types of mags before making any final decisions. |

Agreed. I ordered one of those solar motion sensing spotlights to go outside my front door so when i got home I didn't have to fumble with keys in the dark anymore, and when it arrived, it was broken at the plastic mount which screwed into the wall. I had a surface about the width of a small crayola marker to try and glue to, so I got out the JB Quick weld.
Long story short, about a dime sized amount has been holding a 3 lb light out in the elements for about 2 years now, and it didn't even cure but for about an hour before I put it up. I keep some handy needless to say. |
| So I took my WASR out today for it's first firing. The metal mags were very very wobbly, but I am happy to report there was absolutely no issues with 100 rounds of ammo. I loaded 5-10 at a time to sight it in, used 3 separate mags. SO... in my opinion, the wobble is no big deal. Give it a try :-) |
