I have learned a lot from this site (mostly ar related) and looking for some help.  I'm new to ak's in general and just purchased a WASR 10.  The gun came with two clips 30 & 40 round.  The 30 fits perfect and the 40 has a little wobble.  The gun will not accept any of my other 10 standard ak "mags".  The only difference I can find between the two is the spine on the back.  It does not look like the "mags" have been modified in any way.  Any insight would be appreciated on why the gun will not accept the other "mags".

Clips shouldnt fit in your rifle anyways, but mags will

In order for anyone to help you, you'll have to tell us exactly what the problem is. For example, will the magazines (not "clips")  insert into the  magazine well, but the catch won't lock them in place? The magazines insert part way but not all the way? The magazines won't insert at all?
I suggest you try and put one of the magazines that doesn't fit in  the rifle and take a picture with it in as far as it will go without forcing it.
While you're at it, look to see if you can tell if there's a point of interference between the rifle and the magazine.
Finally, if you own a set of calipers measure the width of the magazines that work, those that don't work and the width of the magazine well.

Thanks for the “clips” correction.  The magazines will insert part of the way but not all the way.  They will insert in the front but are being interfered in the back as seen in the pic.  I thought about filing that part down but wanted to ask before I messed it up.  I will take another pic when I get home.  Don’t own a set of calipers.

Some rifles thats a normal problem. Some say to file the rifle to fix, some say the mags. If its all the mags then do the rifle, all I use are the surplus mags, but the one tapco I got for free wouldnt lock up on 1 rifle, so I just filed the tapco a hair to work as all my rifles work great with the old surplus mags

I can't tell from the photo, but if the metal of the receiver extends past the selector stop (the piece that's between the receiver and the magazine catch/trigger guard) and the point of interference is that metal, you can file the receiver until the magazines will insert.

Thanks to all for the info.  I'm going to file that piece down tonight and see what happens.  I also followed Scharnhorst1943 suggestions and sanded down and added the shellac to the wood.  I have two more coats to put on tonight but it's looking good.  Thanks again.

I had to clean up the mag cut out on my rifle.  They do a really shitty job of milling it out.
