Nothing at all wrong with the single stack WASRs, except that almost no one leaves them in single stack config for very long.

If both are in original factory config, with original factory mags, both should be equally reliable and of comparable quality, provided you don't get a WASR with a canted FSB or gas block (though those can be fixed).

reliability is great with both, I have the double stack WASR though. Just make sure the sks is clean so the firing pin doesn't get stuck if it's free floating

If you live in a low-cap, 10rd magazine state, it's almost a coin toss. SKS for "historic" reasons, single-stack AK for cool (provided you can have the kind with the US-made pistol grip), or a SAIGA for accuracy.

Edit: Yes, double-check the cleanliness of that SKS!! The SKS guns often came in the USA embedded in cosmo.

If you must go single-stack AK and must have a thumbhole stock, consider a look at the Zastava PAP - check the Yugo sub-forum here.
