I'm considering getting a Romarm/Cugir Romanian "Dragunov", chambered in 7.62x51 (.308).  comes with a 4x24 illumintating scope make in Balarus, bipod and 5 mags ( 3 plastic and 2 metal.  One owner, 20 rds thru it.

Person is asking $2000 for it.  Been looking around and seeing only a few places to get these, but can't really narrow down a price.

Hoping you guys can give me some feed back on this style weapon.  Looks like it was distributed by Interordnance of America.

Thanks in advance!

Jim

That's a horrible price.  J&G sales has them for like 600 or 700 with the illuminated scope.  With the regular scope aim is selling them for 570.

ETA:  I just saw it is calibered in .308.  Do they even make PSL's in .308?

just out of curiosity, why would you buy one for that price, when you could get a "standard" PSL in 7.62x54R for 1/4 of that price..

especially since x54R is so much cheaper than 308.....

ETA: I havent heard of a 308 PSL either.. links..??

It was made by Interordnance, and they labeled it the SSG-97.  It was chambered in .308, and very few were made.  Just saw one in a gun store in TX that was on consignment with an upgraded 8x scope.  The guy wanted $1300.  If I didn't already have one in 7.62x54R, I would've walked out with it.

They are pretty rare in .308, but I'm not sure it makes it worth that much more.  Its going to be more expensive to get, more expensive to shoot, and its going to be very hard to find mags for it.  Also for not much more than that you could get a Chinese NDM-86 which would be much higher quality.

I say just spend the $570 on a PSL in 7.62x54r.

^^^ Could not have said it better myself.  If I wanted a .308 Kalashnikov I would buy a Saiga in .308.

Why spend $2000?  That's silly talk.

Thanks everyone!  Price did seem way to high for me and after futher reseach, I can't justify that price for the weapon.

I'll look into the 7.62x54r cal weapons, prices are more reasonable..

For those that do have the PSL, do you like the way it shoots?

I love mine.. just dont expect it to be a tack driver, there are plenty of more accurate rifles out there... BUT for the price you pay it cant be beat IMHO... (plus, they look pretty darn cool too)

From personal experience, and from what I've read on here, AIM and Centerfire has some of the best deals right now..

ETA: I'm not associated with either one of those companys..

The PSL in 54r is a great weapon, the ammo is easy to get at a fair price, it's a pretty accurate rifle, the mags are easy to fine and prices decently as is the rifle. To get one in .308 and pay 2K for it would be a bad purchase decision in my opinion, you'd be better served with a PSL in 54r.

I love how my PSL shoots, not a tack driver with Russian surplus (Bulgarian grouped tighter) but more than accurate enough.  100 rounds through it so far with no problems (ran out of time at the range too shot more ).  Fun to shot like my M1 Garand but way more cheaper to feed .
