I fell in love with my psl that I got last year and just started looking at AKs.  One of my local dealers has a wasr10  still covered in cosmoline comes with two clips sling bayonet oil can and it's brand new for 500.  I think that it had a triangle with a arrow and it said 1974.  Is this a good deal?  From what I see this looks like a average price.  What about the gun itself?  ANY advice would be grateful.

$500 is high market. Many places selling them for $400 or less range if you can find a transfer dealer..

I'd try to get it for closer to $400. You shouldn't have a problem finding one for $400 or a little less these days.

What about the AK it self I know that the wasr 10 has a scope mount and a chromed barrel.  Should I look at other AKs or are they pretty much all the same?

You can find an AK with nicer furniture and finish if you spend more money.
Those dollars may not bring more accuracy (in a 7.62 caliber rifle) and won't get more reliability, if the WASR is properly assembled.
Whether the more expensive rifle is "worth more" is an individual decision.
Remember to check for a canted front sight base and gas block, no matter what AK you examine.
Check the fit of the magazine.
Check the trigger pull. Most WASRs come with a good trigger (G2) but Century sometimes installs their own fire control group, which is terrible.

What do you mean by checking the canted frot sight and gas block?  Are the sights not put on straight sometimes?  And whats up with the gas block?

Not every AK has the front sight base and gas block installed perfectly perpendicular to the barrel. This is commonly called "cant".
As a result, the designer provided sight adjustment so the rifle can be zeroed and provided some play in the attachment of the piston to the carrier so that minor misalignment would not affect operation.
Some people find any deviation from perpendicular unacceptable. If you are one of those people check to make sure it isn't present.
Occasionally, the front sight base is installed so far off that the rifle can't be zeroed properly. Presumably, no one would find that acceptable. A front sight base installed that far off is easily spotted.
