Under the tack welded muzzle break on a PSL, are there standard AK threads for a AK muzzle nut?
Any reason that a nut would not work?

Some are threaded and some are not. Why this is I'm not sure. The ones with a pin in the top of the base of the brake (right in front of the FSB) appear to be pressed on. If you look closely on these particular pieces, the detent pin in the front of the FSB can't be seen and may not even be there.

Mine is like this and I am contemplating removing the brake and threading the barrel (I already have the threading tools). One thing that keeps me from doing it is an article I read (I think it was here on ARFCOM) that the standard PSL brake is the most effective and least noisy of the various ones tried.

This makes me wonder if I'd be making a mistake if I did this. If there is no improvement to be had, I don't see the point of the excercise, except for cosmetics. I don't think my PSL is ready for cosmetics....

The ones I have seen that are threaded are the standard 14x1 LH thread for AK style rifles.

A muzzle nut would work, but I understand that without the brake the PSL is prone to throw a huge and very noisy fireball. It has also been reported that felt recoil increases without the brake as well.

Lotsa powder in that cartridge!

I have a PSL with the little spring loaded pin at the muzzle. I removed the muzzle break and found L.H. 14-1 threads. Hope this helps. (Phil S.)
