I'm new to Ak's and I just picked up a WASR-10. When I pull the charging handle back sometimes it locks in the back position. I found it mainly does this if I pull back and have a slight pressure towards the receiver. Is this a problem or a bolt hold back feature (didn't think there was one....)?

its a common problem caused by the G2 trigger group in the rifle.  its not suppose to do that but MANY, MANY do. do NOT use it as a bolt hold open. it will slam shut when you dont want it to. it will go away after putting a couple hundred rounds through it.

What about an aftermarket trigger? Would this clear it up?

The G2 trigger group is an aftermarket trigger group. Most ak's especially new or ones that have not been shot much will do this.It is very common and will not hurt anything.Just shoot it and enjoy.

its not the trigger actually, but the hammer that causes the problem. the g2 is the most common of the aftermarket trigger groups(which inclused the hammer, disconnector, and trigger) and is quite good. i wouldnt worry about it. just shoot it.

You didnt happen to get it from centerfire did you? I had to return one on account of that and a few other things like the magazne slot so out of spec that 1 in 20 mags actually fit into it not to mention the double feeds. They where good about it though they replaced it free of charge other than the dealer fee, but they did pay return shipping.

Only return shipping?  You do mean shipping costs from you to them and the shipping costs for the new one from them to your dealer, right?

If they only paid halfway, you are out more money for their crappy product.  That blows.
